New Book – Bowlers, Brollies, and Brits: Curious Histories of England

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all well and safe.

I don’t know how it is where you are, but here in England we’ve just gone into our second full lockdown. While there’s not much we can do about what’s going on in the world right now, all we can do is just stay home and stay safe. So it seems to be an especially good time for reading and writing.

I’ve just released my latest book, Bowlers, Brollies, and Brits: Curious Histories of England. Perhaps, you might like to read, or it might make a nice gift for someone this holiday season. Have a look…

Bowlers, Brollies, and Brits: Curious Histories of England

Bowlers, Brollies, and Brits is chock-full of little-known facts and tantalizing tales. Margo digs deep to find the obscure bits of English history and writes about them with a light whimsical touch. The result is a weird and wonderful snapshot of a country’s history.

Could it be that the British National Anthem was really inspired by a surgery on a French king’s bottom? And what about the national drink? (I’m talking about tea here…) How was it discovered, and is it a drink or a meal? Who arranged the Stonehenge stones? And why is the area around that big stone circle such a hot spot for crop circles?

You’ll find answers to these questions and many more conundrums such as: Do Americans and Brits speak the same language? Do all British men wear bowlers and carry brollies? And the list goes on…

Writing

On the topic of writing, this month I’m participating in NaNoWriMo which is National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words towards the first draft of a novel. I am two weeks in, and so far so good. This is the first year I’ve fully participated, and it seems like a really good way to get a big chunk of writing done in a short time. If you want to know more about it, click here: NaNoWriMo. Wish me luck.

All the best to everyone.

Stay well and stay safe.

    1. Thanks, Patricia. I hope you enjoy the book. It’s a good time to read, since we can’t get out and do much else. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you and Vicenzo too. xx
